CYPRIAN NYAKUNDI SENTENCED TO 4 MONTHS FOR DEFAMING SAFARICOM BOSS – BOB COLLYMORE
Its about time that the long arm of the law caught up with the various internet and social media trolls frequently operating under the hashtag #KOT. These trolls often stalk social media handles of well known Kenyan personalities with the intent of making up vile stories about these public figures.
In a ruling that will have many people clapping and cheering A Nairobi high court has sentenced internet blogger Cyprian Nyakundi to four months imprisonment or pay a fine of 300 thousand Kenya shillings for contempt of court in a defamation case brought by the Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore.
Justice Lucy Njuguna had restrained Nyakundi from continuous online defamatory publications against the Safaricom boss, which Nyakundi blatantly disobeyed.
The blogger who has missed court on several occasions when he was required to present himself for sentencing for contempt of court is now a fugitive from the law.
I guess he should petition his fellow #KOT for a harambee – 300k is not pocket change.
