Unlike his rich counterparts who traversed the regions with huge fuel guzzlers and helicopter throwing money at voters in an attempt to woo them for support, John Paul Mwirigi an unemployed casual working university student with no money WON.
24-year-old independent candidate, John Paul Mwirigi and a student at a local university decided to try his luck in politics vying for the Parliamentary seat of Igembe South. The youngster who depends on menial jobs for his daily bread and with no financial assistance for his campaign simply engaged in door-to-door vote lobbying never printing a single poster nor billboard.
Using the above strategy throughout the soft spoken lad competiting against five monied heavy weight candidates among them Jubilee’s Joseph Mwereria and Meru Deputy Governor, Raphael Muriungi WON!
He will be the youngest ever Member of Parliamentary Assembly should he be declared the winner of the Igembe South Parliamentary seat.
John Paul Mwirigi had 19,366, followed by Mwereria who garnered 15,977 votes. The young University student is thankful to his voters for believing in him and he says he is ready to bring change to his constituency.
